Built in 1928 by renowned Swiss engineer Walter Versell (1891–1989), the modern bridge crossing the Rhine at Tavanasa, Switzerland, was eventually no longer strong enough to serve today’s heavy traffic, and it was replaced by a new viaduct nearby. With strong local support for the initiative, Versell’s original elegant structure was preserved and restored and now serves as a pedestrian bridge.
Nossa Punt tells the story of this masterpiece of Swiss civil engineering set in the context of the entire Tavanasa “bridgescape.” With Contributions from Ursula Baus, Simon Berger, Arno Camenisch, Sep Cathomas, Rita Cathomas Bearth, Jürg Conzett, Wilfried Dechau, Peter Egloff, and Robert Kruker, the book documents this fascinating restoration and offers a portrait of the people involved in saving this hidden monument. It is richly illustrated with photographs by Wilfried Dechau.
Ursula Baus
(born 1959 in Kaiserslautern). Studied art history in Saarbrücken and architecture in Stuttgart and Paris. Doctorate Stuttgart University. 1989–04: editor at db. 2004: co-founded frei04-publizistik. Since 2010 member of the Board of Trustees of IBA Basel 2020.

Simon Berger
(born 1981). Studied art history, heritage preservation and monument management. Since 2014 curator of monuments, Canton of Grisons. Lives in Rhäzüns.

Arno Camenisch
(born 1978 in Tavanasa). Writer, studied at the Swiss Institute of Literature in Biel, where he lives. The two volumes Hinter dem Bahnhof (2010) and Ustrinkata (2012) from his “Bündner Trilogie” are set in Tavanasa, where he was born and grew up.

(born 1945 in Breil/Brigels). Formerly partner in a firm of architects, member of the municipal council and mayor, president of the Surselva regional council. Former member of the Swiss National Council. Lives in Breil/Brigels. President of Fundaziun Nossa Punt.

Rita Cathomas-Bearth
(born 1949 in Rabius). Translator and project manager, active in various cultural institutions, former member of the national commissions and institutions of the Offices for the Protection of Nature and Heritage. President of the Nossa Punt association.

Jürg Conzett
, dipl. Bauingenieur ETH/SIA (born 1956). Studied civil engineering at EPF Lausanne and ETH Zurich. Diploma in 1980. Worked with Peter Zumthor. Since 1988: own engineering office in Chur (Conzett Bronzini Partner). Major projects: Punt da Suransuns, Traversiner Footbridge.

Wilfried Dechau
, Dipl.-Ing., DGPh (born 1944 in Lübeck). Editor and editor-in-chief (1980–04) of db. Author (incl. “architektur abbilden”). Founder of the architectural photography prize (1995), architekturbild e.v. (2003) and the gallery f75 (2010). Freelance photographer since 2004.
