Bianca Brunner (*1974) is a young Swiss photographer whose work has gained considerable international recognition and acclaim. Her work appears in the permanent collections of the Aperture Foundation in New York City, the University Art Collection in London, and the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne, and has been published in several books. Brunner has also been awarded several prizes in the United Kingdom and Switzerland for her photographs. In 2005, she was selected to participate in the Musée de l’Elysée’s exhibition reGeneration: 50 Photographers of Tomorrow.

Brunner’s haunting photos—for which she uses neither artificial light nor flashes—captivate viewers with their imaginative character, depicting models and self-constructed sets that seem as fragile and ephemeral as dreams. Bianca Brunner: Gap in the Real is the first book dedicated solely to Brunner’s work. Published for a 2010 exhibition at the Bündner Kunstmuseum Chur in Switzerland, the book features full-color reproductions of approximately fifty of Brunner’s never-before-published photographs, as well as critical essays by curator Katharina Ammann.
